The Challenge

The College of West Anglia is one of the largest providers of education and training in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, with over 4,000 full-time students.

The application process for students was a completely manual one, so the College came to Felinesoft for a solution which would help them automate the process and reduce their workload.

Our Solution

An integrated application involving CRM as the master application, SharePoint as the document store and MVC as portal for students and tutors to work on. The students application is recorded through, and stored in, Dynamics CRM and/or portal, and once approved a login to the portal is sent to the individual. The new CRM system handles all emails related to the application process,  manages changes to courses, automatically generates dates, automatically generates application related documents and stores them in SharePoint, and allows for the booking and recording of interviews.

A student portal was created in MVC to allow each applicant to interact with their application process easily; there they can manage their course, grades, schedule and change their interviews, documents, request any support needed, update their profile and easily see any alerts related to them. Any documents or letters for each student is stored in SharePoint which is managed automatically through CRM workflows and custom web services. Alongside this, we created a Tutor Portal, which allowed the Tutors to manage their interviews, and also manage the process of accepting and offering students their places.

The Results

Our solution has automated the application process fully, manages all communication with the students, safely stores documents and has made the whole process much easier and smoother.
